Melancholy cold mornings will be the death of me, with coffee-laced iced beverages and rolled-up cigarettes as home comforts for the dreary dim-lit mornings. While I linger for dandelions and picturesque picnic weather, Laura Mvula (@lauramvula) is my idyllic antidote to spring/summer envy with the ever-entrancing Green Garden off her transcending debut album Sing To The Moon.
Green Garden is the cure to melancholia, the bright and breezy record for decadent tea parties covered in vintage décor. An upbeat unison of Etta-esque jazz and old skool gospel, 'gospeldelia' is captivating to the ear. The ménage a trois of treacly tones, child-like bells and al fresco clapping is spellbinding. The effervescent and rhythms of Laura Mvula remind me of Spring blossoms, simple yet scenic.
