After a two year wait, Diana Vickers (@DianaVickers) is finally making an honest single out of a beloved track on my iTunes favourite playlist with the recent release of Music To Make Boys Cry, a deliciously downbeat and dapper 80s pop throwback. Once an epic and enthralling free download found by Popjustice (@Popjustice) in December 2011, I’ve been waiting far too long for an official release date for the twinkly tearjerker of a stylish synthpop record with the same allure of Cinderella.
Vickers is charming and captivating in the attractively alternative pop tune, seductively cooing alongside indie-esque eccentric electronica with the desire to make me both dance and cry like a hot mess in the nightclub. While I'd like to forget the fact that I'm no longer a 21 year old graduate with farfetched ideals, Music To Make Boys Cry is still Diana Vicker’s prodigious progression from Once two years later.
